Privacy policy

We only ask for what we need to help you get your car fixed — and we never sell it. Here's exactly what we collect and why.

Who we are

Metro Auto Ministry is a nonprofit auto repair ministry serving low-income neighbors in the Denton–DFW area. This policy covers the website at metroautoministry.org.

What we collect

When you use the contact form. Your name, email address, the topic you select, and the message you write.

When you submit a repair request. Your name, email, phone, and city; details about your vehicle (make, model, year, mileage, color, and — if you provide them — license plate and VIN); a description of the problem; who referred you; a description of why you qualify for assistance; what you can afford to pay; and any documents you choose to upload to support your request.

Some of that is sensitive — it describes your financial situation. We ask for it only because our repair grants are needs-based and we have to be able to tell who qualifies. Please don't upload more than we ask for: we don't need Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, or full financial statements.

Automatically. Like most websites, ours records basic technical information when you visit — the pages you view, rough location by region, browser type, and referring site. This is aggregate traffic data; it isn't tied to your name.

Why we collect it

To reply to you, to schedule and perform repairs, to determine whether you qualify for assistance, to keep records our funders and auditors may require of a nonprofit, and to understand which parts of the site are useful. That's it.

We do not sell your information, rent it, or share it for advertising. We don't send marketing email from form submissions.

Who else sees it

Only the small Metro Auto Ministry team, plus the service providers that make the website work:

• Our website host, which serves the site and runs the form handler.
• Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that form submissions come from a person rather than a bot.
• Our email provider, which delivers form submissions to our inbox.
• A privacy-friendly analytics service that reports aggregate traffic, with no advertising profiles.

These providers may only use the information to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Cookies

This site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't build profiles of visitors across other websites. Our analytics measures page views in aggregate. Turnstile may set a short-lived token on the contact page purely to confirm a submission is genuine.

How long we keep it

We keep form submissions and repair records for as long as we need them to serve you and to meet our record-keeping obligations as a nonprofit, and then we dispose of them. If you'd like your information removed sooner, just ask — see below.

Your choices

You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Texas residents and residents of states with privacy laws such as California have these rights explicitly, but we'll honor a request from anyone. We won't treat you differently for asking.

Email metroautoministry@gmail.com with your request. We may need to confirm your identity before we act, so that no one else can request your records. We'll respond as quickly as our two-day-a-week schedule allows.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, and form submissions travel encrypted to our inbox. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send us anything more sensitive than we've asked for.

Children

This site is meant for adults seeking or supporting vehicle repair assistance. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted here.
